• Sedums should never be walked on during winter dormancy
Formats
Individual Sedum are available in 4.5’’ square pots in many different varieties and colours to add diversity to your design
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
• Soil requirements.- Sedums are not fussy about soil conditions, use existing garden soil, a loam or screened topsoil.
• Level or contour soil as desired, ensure to remove any visible weeds prior to planting.
• Lightly wet the soil and apply a balanced organic fertilizer.
• Sedums can be laid in a continuous 100% coverage approach or can be installed leaving exposed topsoil around each plant.
• Ensure exposed edges are covered with soil.
• Water deeply immediately after planting and then every 2-3 days until plants have rooted into soil.
MAINTENANCE OVERVIEW
• After establishment water only occasionally throughout the growing season in times of drought.
• A deep watering in fall and then again in early spring is beneficial to plant health.
• If desired in spring apply a balanced control released fertilizer.
• Bi-weekly weeding is recommended. Broadleaf herbicides should never be used on Sedums.
• If maintaining diversity of species is desired, we recommend mowing 1-2 times per growing season. This can be done with a whipper snipper or low mower on the highest height setting.
• Sedums are susceptible to snow mold desiccation, if you find bare circular shapes after winter this is likely caused by snow mold, we recommend scraping the areas and removing the dead plant material to allow health sedums to spread at provide full coverage
