OVERVIEW
There's a lot to consider when designing with native plants and our team is here as a resource. We start with understanding your intended outcomes for the project and then collaborate with you to design an approach, including seed blends.
SEED BLEND SPECIFICATION REVIEW
There is a broad range of municipal seed blends commonly specified on projects, but we know that the native seed supply chain can vary season to season. We engage with architects, designers and contractors during the design phase to provide feedback on commonly specified blends, including:
Availability & Order TIMELINES
We'll let you know how seasonal availability is looking and whether to anticipate any shortages or consider substitutions.
Budget & Seasonality
Pricing can vary greatly based on available inventory. Our team can provide you with a sense of cost on specified materials, and offer budget conscious alternative if those are needed.
Implementaion Approach & Format
Some species establish more readily from seed while others have the best chance when implemented on site as a plant. Based on the species you'd like to see established on site, we can recommend the format with the best success rate.
SEED BLEND DESIGN
Taking the time to understand your project goals, site conditions and desired plant community, we can design a seed blend for your project. Seed size and establishment preferences can vary widely from one species to the next and so it’s important to consider not just the seed by weight in your blend, but the number of seeds in your blend and the best way to establish each of your desired species.
It’s not unusual to hear us recommending a combination of seed and plant material in order to establish a truly diverse native plant community. Native seed is an important resource in the restoration approach, and we’ll help you make the most of your seed blends.
